Day 97 - 30th June 2007

Another day, yet another crap terrorist. Following yesterday's two failed bomb plots, they decided to set fire to a Jeep and drive it into Glasgow airport. The driver got out of the burning vehicle when he hit the terminal and he tried to fight the police even when he was on fire, clearly blowing any chances that he might have not been a terrorist away. The guy was pounced on and is being questioned.
Sadly, this has put the national threat level up to critical, which is justifiable I suppose; we've just had three attempts at mass murder in two days. What a horrible start to the job for Gordon Brown! What has come of all of this is the clear fact that Britain shall never live in fear. Terrorists might as well give up or kill us all before they get anywhere.
In other news, Wimbledon was rained off mostly today again, Lewis Hamilton qualified second behind Massa in the French Grand Prix and my brother came home for the summer.
I use the term 'Summer' in a somewhat ironic sense of the word. It's going to rain again for the next week apparently, I really do feel sorry for those in the floods; it only got worse in today's awful weather.
In half an hour, smoking will be banned in all public places across England. To me this means no more smoke in pubs! I might actually go for a pint for once without coming back smelling like a bloody fag packet! Yes, it may be the 'nanny state', but I love it! There are people out there who have taken a week off to enjoy their last cigarette in a pub, club or restaurant; it's a sad world, I know. I wonder though, what will the sea dogs do now? Where will they go with their pipes and sea shanties? I bet the government never thought of that, the government never thinks of the old sea dogs in legislation; they must feel so left out. Mind you, they are alone a lot of the time, they must know what feeling left out feels like.
On the subject of loneliness, it was the last Doctor Who of the series today. The good news is that David Tennant is still The Doctor. The bad news is that I'm not sure about his sidekick! The Doctor was all alone right at the end, she'll be back though. What a fantastic show it has been, David Tennant is simply brilliant! It's as if Christopher Ecclestone never did it!
Anyway, to end on that rather nerdy note, I'm off to bed!

Day 96 - 29th June 2007

It's Friday today, so why does it feel like it's Wednesday? I suppose I've got to work tomorrow, so it's a good thing that I feel that way. I'm still going along with the database of course, but today did also involve me building a trolley to carry a suction pump and a drip. You can see the pole and the hook which carries the drip in the picture. The battery in my camera ran out before I could get a better one!
It appears that we are living in extremely dangerous and volatile times. A car bomb was found today in the West End of London, where the tourists are. It was defused by the sheer bravery of a policeman. This was at one o'clock this morning and the whole West End is now a crime scene. It was packed with nails and gas canisters. The police, in their manhunt of the local area, have found another one. Wow; two car bombs found in central London in one day, it's a bit of a baptism of fire for Gordon Brown and the new Home Secretary Jacqui Smith, they've both been in the job for one day only so far.
So, is the new government the reason for this? That is a possibility, it could also be Wimbledon or even the Princess Diana memorial concert planned on Sunday. Of course, the cynics are already forming the conspiracy theories; I heard somebody say that it was the new Gordon Brown government that had set this up, then defused the bomb to make it look like all is under control and to promote his image early on. Let’s face it, this is almost certainly just another crap idea somebody has had; I'm so tired of conspiracy theories now I wish people would just stop.
Only one thing is for certain about today, if it wasn't for the bravery of that policeman, then I would be talking about events much worse than I have just described. Much worse.

Day 95 - 28th June 2007

It's not been a particularly uneventful day today, it's just that not much has happened to me; so I have finally resorted to taking a picture of where I have been working all week.
The weather has been cold but dry, in fact it's been very cold considering we're in late June! Looks like more rain is on the way too, God help us all.
Otherwise, Gordon Brown announced his new cabinet today, the Spice Girls are getting back together, so are The Verve and surprise surprise; Tim Henman is out of Wimbledon.
I watched some of the match and he lost the first two sets, then he managed to heroically pull back the next two, only to conk out and lose the last one 6-1. It was only the second round and we did see some flashes of real cunning and flair in him. The problem was that when I saw the big boys playing i.e. Nadal and Federer, I realised that however much Henman comes back; he's never going to win Wimbledon.

Day 94 - 27th June 2007

Goodbye Tony, hello Gordon! It would not be an exaggeration to call this an important day in British modern history. Tony Blair has resigned as Prime Minister and Gordon Brown is his successor. This has been on the cards for ages now, but only today is it real. Only today can we really start to see what Gordon Brown has up his sleeve.
Nobody knows about his objectives and nobody knows what cabinet he will choose. Personally, I want this to be a time of positive change for the country, it's a breath of fresh air in Number 10; albeit a rather dour Scottish one! Deep down however, I can't help thinking that not much will change, after all, Mr. Brown has been at Tony's right hand side for ten years now, so will it just be a continuation of the Blair years? Who knows, only time will tell.
There is so much going on about all of this that it is bordering on the stupid. Fine, we can tell how good he may be from his upbringing and his past, but is it really productive to analyse how much better his wife is than Tony's? Mind you, at least you can look at her, she seems like a normal person; unlike Cherie who was ugly and obnoxious.
My life seems to revolve around data entry and news events these days, I didn't have time to stop to mourn the break up of Preston and Chantelle! Otherwise, Wimbledon was rained off for most of the day today, although I did see Serena Williams beat somebody in the first round.

Day 93 - 26th June 2007

Britain is badly flooded. No picture I can take could possibly sum up the four lives lost in these horrific events. Today, the rain held off but it is expected to come back soon. There is a dam about to burst, houses are underwater, railways have been turned into canals and people are being evacuated from villages up in Sheffield. This, along with Rotherham, has been underwater for almost two days, and the area has been without power.
I knew about this yesterday, I only saw the horrible pictures today on the news. Despite the depressed tone of it all, people were smiling, singing and laughing together; that's why we all love this country so much.
Otherwise, I got a pig in the post today, addressed to Ben Oliver "Artiste" which I thought was quite cool, or it would have been if it hadn't gone to the neighbours first. They must really be wondering what the hell is going on! In my lunch break, amid all the data entry, I saw Tim Henman finish off his first round at Wimbledon. The game started yesterday, and it rained as usual (they decided to leave the roof off the centre court, just when we have the worst June ever recorded) so it carried over to today. When I tuned in it was on the fifth set, and the scores was 12 games to 11! I thought it could go on all night! Henman made us all crap ourselves before just managing to conclude the match with an epic victory; no change there then!
Anyway, my thoughts go out to anyone too badly affected by the flooding; I pray that it doesn't rain on Friday like they said it would.

Day 92 - 25th June 2007

So, I started on my first day of work today with the Medela UK central database. I got to the offices and, would you believe it, I got given my own office! There it is in the picture look!
Sadly, the office is in Irlam, near Manchester and takes about an hour and a bit to get to every morning; tough when you haven't got a car. This means I'll be working from home for three weeks, bye bye office!
It's pretty dull really, I spent this morning working out what needed to be done and measuring up the task. This afternoon I went and did two house calls with my mum where I met two of the loveliest parents ever. It was a bit scary though, because the husband was basically an older version of me but slightly more northern!
Otherwise, there's been floods nationwide today, with some areas getting a month's worth of rain in about two hours. It just poured and poured, all the roads were flooded; even some motorways! What's more is that they say it's only going to get worse later in the week, it's a scary thought when you think that a man was killed today; let's hope it doesn't happen again.

Day 91 - 24th June 2007

There they are, the people of Wokingham! It's our last day here today and we finished it off by doing the morning service, which was full and went down rather better than last night's evening gig I think.
We were invited to the house of a relative of one of the choir members, it was huge! Great meal though, we were eternally grateful!
It did rain again today, but it was the journey home so who cares? I'm gearing up tomorrow for my first day working for my mum's company, I'm off up to the offices in Manchester to meet everybody. Looks like a boring three weeks ahead!
I'm sure there's loads more to talk about, but I need my bed!

Day 90 - 23rd June 2007

What a day today has been, and as I write it is so far from being over; I thought I'd do this now before today turns into tomorrow! I'm still in Wokingham with the choir today, and we started off with a practice, then some lunch. Overall, it was an easy morning.
Then, we went to a barbecue. This was a very posh affair in somebody's garden, sadly it rained a lot and all the gezebos in the world couldn't have held all that water off! The food got wet and it stopped raining when we stopped eating of course. The guy there has a big pond too, interesting stuff, eh?
It was then time for more practice and the final gig, which I don't personally think went down too well at all. This is such a strange place, there has been a huge £1.3 million pound makeover done here recently but there seems to be an absence of enthusiastic people, just loads of rich ones! Anyway, I could go on for hours but just to say that I think there has been a huge problem in the way money was spent.
I've just eaten a huge pizza and I feel like I'm about to die; looks like prime time for a game of table football I think!

Day 89 - 22nd June 2007

It was my last ever day in college today and it went out with a bit of a *phut*. It was raining, and I had endless troubles with the buses and consequently with exams, but all went to plan in the end. I'll never go back again, it's such a strange feeling.
Hopefully, the internet will keep me in touch with all the people I want to, through myspace etc... On the subject of myspace, I'm not sure I mentioned, I've got 1000 fans now! Goodness me it doesn't half massage my ego!
Otherwise, I went to Wokingham today, which is where I'm writing from, ready to hop into what I have learnt to call a bed. It's a sack of air with a sleeping bag I know, but it's strangely reassuring when there's nowhere else to go. I'm looking forward to tomorrow now, Saturdays are always great with the choir, no matter where we are.

Day 88 - 21st June 2007

Technically, the college party ended today; but I wrote about all hat very late last night so it doesn't count!
Sadly, nothing very interesting has happened today; I've got my last exam tomorrow so I did some revision. Biology will be the last thing I ever do; what a horrible thought.
I'm also gearing up for this three week stint I've got coming up arranging databases, and I've had to start getting to grips with some interesting journals (pictured). Doesn't seem like the most interesting job ever created, but it's money and it doesn't involve wiping arses; so it's all good (apologies to any arsewipers out there; especially all you lib dems).
The most entertaining thing I saw was a dramatic chipmunk, this sums it all up really. Goodness me, that chipmunk really was dramatic though.

Day 87 - 20th June 2007

It was the leavers' do today, and sadly the only picture without anybody else in but me (I can't be arsed to get all the permissions), is one where I look very, very pissed. The fact that I'm home now, typing this at 1 o'clock in the morning is testament to the fact that I'm not drunk out of my mind!
I did have a few drinks of course, but it wasn't as bad as some, who were puking on the bus home. I don't see how this can happen, I was basically drinking all night long i.e. when my glass was empty I'd get a new drink; and I'm not what you'd call completely trolleyed. However, some people, in the same amount of time are passing out on the floor! I must be on the wrong stuff! Anyway, I did manage to snatch a snog outside out of sight, now it's in type for all the world to see; but nothing more! I wouldn't be on the computer otherwise would I?
Nothing else happened at all today, my next exam is on Friday, so I've got time to laze about just like I did for most of today.

Day 86 - 19th June 2007

I had a couple of Biology exams today and I'm not sure at all of the outcome. I'd be happy with a C to be honest.
Otherwise, I had my hair cut today; this doesn't happen very often so I did one of those cheesy before and after pictures. I actually liked it more before, but any longer and it would be ridiculous. It was already starting to get quite warm under there as the temperatures are slowly rising, so it was nice to get rid of what was basically a woolly hat. The shorter cut also looks less scruffy in a suit, which I'll be wearing tomorrow.
Yes, it's time for the leaver's ball and I still can't believe that it's mine! Time flies way to quickly, I sometimes wonder if university is really worth it. It's four years gone, to get stuck in debt with a career you'd better like because you can't really go back on it all. It had better be bloody good to compensate for that. Then again, why would everyone do it if it was that bad? I suppose people are sheep though... Agh! I'm arguing myself into the ground! If I love it (which I probably will) then great, if not I'll quit! Well, that's that sorted out then.
The skies are very, very black tonight. It's raining incredibly hard and water is gushing down the street. What's more, it's Glastonbury this weekend! Looks like another mud bath on the cards. Is that festival jinxed with bad weather or what?

Day 85 - 18th June 2007

Today was a bad day, even by my standards. I'll give a warning to anybody who ever gets told they have to be supervised for three hours between exams: avoid at all costs!
I'd finished my geography exam and it was two hours of solid writing right to the very end, I was tired. Then I got carted off to the office where I sat for three hours until my next one! When I walked into Spanish, it was quite a shock really; I realised how I was not ready for it at all! It took me ten minutes to get settled into it all; but eventually everything went well. I got home and collapsed. I'm not sure about Biology tomorrow, so let's wait and see on that one!
I just watched the first part of the season finale of Doctor Who, brilliant! I'm not going to say what happened, you might have taped it but if you haven't; find a copy and watch it now!

Day 84 - 17th June 2007

It was father's day today, which was all very nice and I got a helicopter for my step-dad, it's so cool! It's a tiny little thing, completely out of control but great fun! It was such a pain to get a picture of though, it just keeps whirring around; it only gets stable for about one minute when the battery starts to run down, then it hits the ground!
Something else happened today which doesn't often happen, the best man won; twice. First of all Lewis Hamilton won his second race ever (that's two in a row too!) today in America. That guy is such a talent, he managed to survive such a huge pressure from Alonso that I have rarely seen even in machines! Britain seems to have a hero other than David Beckham now; nice one Lewis!
It was also the final of the 'Britain's Got Talent' show, which has spent all week trying to find an act for the Royal Variety Show. The other day, this guy came on the stage and shocked everybody. He's quite ugly, works at the carphone warehouse and when he said he was going to do opera, people's eyebrows were raised. However, when he started singing, in my eyes, there was no way he couldn't win the contest from the word go. Paul Potts is his name, he's an operatic genius! When this man sings, the whole of Britain shuts up. I really, really wanted him to win and he did! He's not smug, he's not full of himself, he's never even done a concert before but he is simply brilliant! The judges loved him, I loved him, Simon Cowell has offered him a contract and he's getting to be an international star now! People are turning to opera just because of one man, Paul Potts!
I did quite enjoy the whole show mainly because of its brilliant format. They put it on once a night for a week and it eight days it was over! It was mostly all auditions which is of course the best, then they shed the shit and have incredibly talented acts on for three days until the final, fantastic! It's not like X-Factor where it just drags on for weeks on end and the only interesting part is the audition, here you can get hooked on it and it's over before you get bored of it all! As a result, over 2 million people voted in the final tonight! I think I'll watch the royal variety just to see him in it!
Anyway, well done Lewis and well done Paul; what a day for Britain!

Day 83 - 16th June 2007

I went to the Feeling gig today in Delamere forest and it was fantastic! They were simply brilliant, the support act was Ghosts who were also great. I had loads of choice for the picture today, so I went for a brightly lit stage one, instead of one of an individual player.
They played with a great amount of energy and a good time was had by all; I even made a new friend. I got into his picture by accident while we were waiting for the main act to come on and we got chatting, he was a nice guy actually.
Anyway, we were chatting about the fact that the bassist for this band is married to Sophie Ellis-Bextor. So there we were, joking about her catty features and what songs she'd do as a cameo when suddenly she walked on! There she was, watching from the sidelines!
Needless to say that it's very late (I can't believe I'm still typing, I'm so tired!) and it's time for me to go to bed; I probably won't wake up for a long time.

Day 82 - 15th June 2007

Such a lot happened today compared to other days, but none of it picture worthy. I had a geography exam in the morning, which was fine.
This was followed by a huge storm, one of the most intense periods of rain I've even seen in Loggerheads! If it rains like this on a regular basis then we'll all drown! The whole country was flooded, and it even blocked my path in some points.
I was going to my band concert tonight but I had to make my way there very slowly due to flooding on the roads. The concert was fine though, and all is well now.
Tomorrow, I go and see the Feeling play in Delamere forest (I kept getting the day wrong so I was shocked to find it was happening tomorrow!). If it rains again, then it'll make for a muddy adventure in the woods. Anyway, there is promise of a decent picture at last!

Day 81 - 14th June 2007

Alas, another dull day goes by in the world of Ben. Revision again mainly for the human geography exam tomorrow but instead of taking a picture of the book again I took one of some stuff I listed on eBay.
Looks like I've landed myself a one off database management job for the UK branch of my mum's company. It involves sorting out loads of data, not very exciting stuff and I fear the worst for this blog during those three weeks. I'll just be at home typing and making phone calls!
Anyway, like I keep saying, I've got my holiday to look forward too, I've got a band concert tomorrow evening and I'm going to see the Feeling play in Delamere forest on Sunday; I'm not a huge huge fan, but I do quite like them, I've got the album and it's quite good. Plus, it'll be nice to get together with some mates, I'm not sure when we'll see each other again what with me being away loads and the holiday. There we go again, I can't help slip it in I'm so excited! First things first; it's the exams next weeks, oh, I mustn't forget the leavers do on Wednesday too. It's all go here! Why am I so bored then?

Day 80 - 13th June 2007

I've had it with geography now. I've got an exam on Friday, then the last one in a week. All I've been revising is geography this week and at about lunch time I was so fed up I went on the playstation for the rest of the day.
It wasn't a good move, but I do feel a lot better now. I'm starting to love GTA San Andreas, I just can't stop myself getting into planes and parachuting out again; great fun! I didn't think it would be my cup of tea but I got it cheap off eBay anyway and now I can see why people like it so much; you can do anything you can think of, without actually killing yourself!
Otherwise, it was just another dull day gearing up for the exams then my glorious holiday baby! Yeah! Oh yeah! I'm so excited just thinking about it! Yee haaa! One last thing, a friend of my mother who died quite young of cancer recently got her obituary in the Times today; it was weird seeing her name in print just because she's dead. I think I'm going to have to make sure I get in the paper for another reason before death, It'd be a shame for people only to know who I am because I'm not around anymore. That is how it works a lot of the time though sadly...

Day 79 - 12th June 2007

The first exam of the season was Geography Physical and it happened today. I'm waiting for the human paper on Friday, then next week it all kicks off big time until I blow the final whistle next Friday, my last ever exam.
What's been going down otherwise, well, nothing again. I didn't do much revision today apart from before the exam, I just dossed about this afternoon when it was all over.
What else is there to say? That's all folks!

Day 78 - 11th June 2007

That's it now; I got the letter through to pick my college at Lancaster university. It's starting to get very exciting. Of course, I'm not in yet, and I'll be happy to get into Lancaster or Salford, but this marks the start of it all for me.
Hey, it's a picture of a letter! Oh well, it does show that all I've really been up to all day is revision as I have my first exam tomorrow. It's the physical geography exam so I'm not sure how well it'll go! I am quietly confident though...
Otherwise, it really has been nothing much. In the news, it's business as usual; everybody is waiting for Tony Blair to clear off. Gordon Brown is basically the Prime Minister now, although he still talks in the 'very near future' tense about his actions. Also, on a more important issue, it looks like Paris Hilton is actually going to prison. Yes, the hotel-heiress, party girl and professional Chantelle look-a-like looked like she was getting off her 45-day long jail sentence, which had already been shortened to 23 days, after only three days in prison. She was placed under house-arrest for two months on 'medical grounds'. Now, not only is she back in prison, she has to serve the full sentence of 45 days! Apparently the judge pulled himself together and had her dragged (literally kicking and screaming) back to the cells, the special Paris Hilton cells of course, but nonetheless, prison is prison.
This is a trashy story, but how often do celebrities get away with it? All the time! Mind you, I wouldn't be surprised if next week I'm typing about her release.

Day 77 - 10th June 2007

Today was an F1 race to remember. Lewis Hamilton won for his first time, on the sixth race of his career! In a race that has been described as 'hell', young Lewis (still only 22) was the calm in the eye of the storm. A mistake in qualifying meant that Hamilton was on pole position, luckily, he managed to finish the race that way!
Alonso was spinning and sliding off everywhere, plus he got a ten second penalty, Raikonnen wasn't there really and everyone else was crashing off! These crashes consisted mainly of hitting those notorious Canadian walls, apart from Robert Kubica.
The Pole was involved in one of the most horrific crashes I have ever seen, he basically hit a wall at around 180 mph, and the sheer force of it pushed him round the corner, where he crossed the track and hit another wall, this time parallel to him. Honestly, I thought he was dead. There was nothing left of his car to speak of, somehow he got away (it seems) with just a broken leg. I'm not sure of the details of his injuries yet and I hope that there's nothing more serious.
I won't bore you with the other details of the race (lots happened though), but Hamilton leads the championship by 8 points! Otherwise, there were no major events today; the heat is really starting to set in now, especially in the afternoons. Why does it always get so hot just when the exams are starting? Anyway, time to get a haircut I think; I'm starting to feel a little warm under the barnet.

Day 76 - 9th June 2007

Well, it's my grandmother's birthday today and I couldn't go because of the lack of car space; what a shame that was. Yes, a real shame indeed.
Never mind, after my band rehearsal in the morning, I just bummed around the house all day, so I thought that the time had come for me to take a picture of the new car. We've had it for over a week now, but I still haven't had a ride in it! I realise how bad the picture is, but I had to be quick, the neighbours were wondering what I was doing...
I watched Doctor Who, brilliant as usual, and then 'Britain's Got Talent' which I think should be called 'Britain's got talent?' Anyway, Britain, thank God, has got talent; not much of it though. Whoa, it must have been a dull day, I'm talking about TV talent shows with pigs playing the piano! Mind you, that pig sounded funnier than he actually is. He doesn't know how to play the piano; he just walks on the keyboard. Oh the disappointment.

Day 75 - 8th June 2007

Today I ask the question, is my bedroom a jungle? The answer is no, as ever but this is the third creature I have encountered for a while, and only the second I have recognised. It's a spider, but not any spider, a jumping spider.
When I realised this (it was jumping a lot) I caught it and attempted to train it into being a cute little money-spinning (get it?) act for me. You may have already guessed what happened, it did not work. The truth is I know nothing about training spiders so I don't know what I was thinking really.
Otherwise, I revised again. I also wrote a song for my CD, which was nice. It actually took some effort to come up with my own tune, but I'm proud of it. This is a song that I thought up the chorus to when I was ten, it's called the John and Phillip song. Strangely, it's about two kids (they are no longer kids) who used to run around the playground at my school pretending to be tractors and wagons even using fantastic sound effects which are easily impersonated, so I put them in the song. I haven't recorded it yet, and I think that if I work with some friends on it, it can be good.
I booked my flight to go to France today, and back. I really am looking forward to travelling around Spain a load it'll be lonely but fun. I did think about asking around to see if anybody wanted to come with me but I can't be arsed. I can't afford to pay for them at all, so who would want to pay to spend a month in a car with me? I have found that not so many people enjoy the journey as much as I do sometimes. What's more, on my own, I'll go at my own pace.
I went into town today to pick up a parcel which I missed and also to get a card for my grandmother. You're probably thinking, great, another dull story! However, when I got to the card shop I had a memory lapse and I looked for a card for my Grandpa instead! I only realised on the bus home! Luckily, I chose a bland card that didn't say 'grandad' or anything personal on it. So, I've settled with the decision of giving my nan a rather butch card. Pah, birthday cards are all camp anyway, no one will notice!

Day 74 - 7th June 2007

I got an old film camera today, it's great fun, you just wind it up and off you go! It came with a film in, so it makes that great ticking sound you always associate with old film. I love it mainly because it needs no batteries, so it'll never run out! It's just dawned on me, but I think I might take this to France.

I've definitely decided to go travelling around Spain or Europe, and there are no worries about the concert, I've got a job in the run up to it. I was getting rather worried I'd have nothing to do for three weeks. Anyway, why not take my quaint old film camera with me? Brilliant idea! I'm looking forward to the whole jaunt already! I wish the exams would come quicker though...

Otherwise, I revised a lot again today and it's getting to be much easier now I'm used to it all. I do like to take a break though. Before I never really understood the concept, it was always work or play
for me, not both in the same day. I've managed to break with this concept thank goodness, it makes life so much easier!

Day 73 - 6th June 2007

Estonia 0-3 England! Yeah baby! Once again, we were saved by John Terry and David Beckham set up two of the goals! YEEEEEESSSSS!!! Joe Cole scored a fantastic turn and shot, then Crouchy headed in a fantastic Beckham swinging cross, Owen did the same later on to make it three. I was waving the cap like crazy.

We are still fourth in the qualifying table for the European championship, but we are now only three points away from 1st place. England weren't stunning, but they played as a team and David Beckham is a football god!

Anyway, what else has happened? Well, nothing, so good night!

Day 72 - 5th June 2007

My mother came back from Belgium today with this T-Shirt. Goodness me, those Belgians are so wacky; it's such a great play on words isn't it? What do you mean no it isn't? Don't you get it? It says 'I prefer Belgian blondes', so everybody think about women but those crazy Belgians really mean beer! Woah, Peter Kay had better watch out; he's got some competition!
Anyway, that was it for the day apart from the standard revision. I also looked for a way to get to France, and now I think I'm going to go travelling a bit, maybe into Spain; I suppose I could pay a visit to my friends in Madrid which I visited in October.
I'll keep dreaming on and go to bed now; it's way past my bed time.

Day 71 - 4th June 2007

I had my first day free of anybody today. Like I said yesterday, my brother has gone, my mother is in Belgium on business and my dad was at work. The truth is (what with the low hours going to college involved); I have always found myself rather bored in these situations.

Obviously, I did some revision but there's only so much any one man can do in a day so what else? Well, I went on a walk in the woods and I didn't really feel better for it which is strange because that is usually the effect it has, I suppose I was hoping to trip up on a cadaver and recreate a scene from Midsomer Murders. I didn't fancy going on the playstation either. What then, what do I do? I've never been this restless before!

I turned to my Tellytubby massacre film script and that kept me occupied for an hour which was great, it's coming along nicely; I felt it was all wrong so I scrapped 20 minutes of it and I think I need to change the title. You're probably thinking: what did he do then? What was the answer to his problem? The answer? I went to bed unhappy, or should I say I'm about to go to bed restless and unhappy; unfulfilled for the first time in my life. I love to end on a high note.

Oh, I almost forgot, I meant to over-dramatise the fact that I saw two middle aged men snogging in the woods today for hilarious comic effect. I realise that this isn't such a strange occurrence in the world, but it is in Loggerheads, you don't see that everyday round here; well I don't, maybe I'm in the wrong circles for that. That's a lie; I'm not in any 'circles' in Loggerheads!

Day 70 - 3rd June 2007

It's the end of half term and my brother left today to go back to school. For some reason we both have our mouths open, but he looks great and I look like some porn baron. I must remember to never have my picture taken with him again; I look so sexy don't I?
Otherwise, apart from that particularly bad picture (I used it because I liked the look on my brother's face), nothing happened much again today. During revision time nothing much goes on, and this proves it. Later on in the week I'll get out a bit more, get some decent pictures.
I have been giving a lot of thought as to what to do this summer again. I think I should stay until the 12th for my big festival of youth final, but the plane prices are so much higher at that time for getting to France, it's the holiday season. If I could get there before, then it'd cost me £44 return instead of £250. Tempting to miss the concert isn't it? I may have to miss it or find another way; I really need to save the money for university, if I get in.
That again brought me back to what I'd do if I failed. I have made a final decision, let the internet be the witness to this; if I fail then I resit the year at college, full stop. I haven't quite decided what I'd do if I missed out on Lancaster but got into my less favourable second choice, Salford. Maybe I'd resit, maybe I'd take it. I am thinking that I wouldn't want to spend four years in a place I don't like because I couldn't be bothered to resit one year! Hmm...
I also thought "what will people think of me if I fail?" This was so unlike me that I surprised myself. I would say that I didn't care what people thought, but obviously I do a bit because the thought actually crossed my mind. I'd deal with it though, like everything else. I'm so lucky to be in a household where I'd get supported whatever decisions I was to make. It sounds sappy, but hey, there would be no point in typing this everyday if I didn't tell the truth.

Day 69 - 2nd June 2007

Another picture of me, I know. It's just that there was nothing to get a picture of today, at all! That made me think though, it's June; what have I done this year of any significance? Nothing! It had better be a good summer!
I just watched The Departed with a whole ton of famous people in, it was good. There we are, star reviewer as ever.
Let's think what happened today, I revised. I had lunch, I revised some more, I played on FIFA with my brother, I said goodbye to my mum who's off on business. What is there to get a picture of?
I am about to make a profit on an Amy Winehouse CD I bought and sold on Ebay though. What happened was that I bought it, thinking I was getting a £3 deal on the album. Silly me, I didn't look at the description properly and it was the single! It didn't say it was a single in the title (it was listed as "AMY WINEHOUSE BACK TO BLACK") but it did say so in the description so I couldn't complain; plus, the picture was of the single. So I paid up, received the CD, listened to the four tracks on it and I repackaged it as I found then relisted it on Ebay, on the off chance of getting some money back. I'm making over £5 on it now! It's not a fraudulent listing, I did it exactly the same as when I got it, but I do feel a bit dodgy! Hey, that's what makes the world go round I suppose.

Day 68 - 1st June 2007

Woah woah woah woah woah! England played well! Should I say, Beckham played well! Yes, we nearly beat Brazil today, and Beckham was clearly drinking from the same cup as God today; he was on fire!
Of course, we were leading for a while until Brazil made it a draw in the 92nd minute. 92nd! We do have a knack of squandering a triumph. That doesn't matter though, we're back! Watch out Estonia on Wednesday, we're coming to get you!
Otherwise, not much happened, the day plodded along really. My brother and Chris went to see the pirate film, they didn't know happened at the end either. The terrorists who captured the BBC's Alan Johnston released a video today of him, although the time and location of filming are unidentifiable. Personally, I think that this is as important as the story of the poor Madeleine McCann, who is receiving much press attention right now.
I was thinking of making my MySpace picture into one of "Find Maddie" until I noticed that the campaign is backed by the news of the world. The cheeky beggars have put a number for the police on the picture but also the news desk! Their news desk! This poor little girl's gone missing for three weeks in a foreign country and the News of The World are praying on people's good nature to get free publicity! Ugh, it makes me sick! What's worst is that it's working!
People don't seem to realise that the pictures are just easy advertisements which are spreading for free on one of the world's most visited sites? Folks, I'm not one to give instructions on life or what you should do with it but my advice is if you want to help Maddie, make your own tribute, there are enough pictures out there already! I, like many others do not want to be seen as not caring, but I do not want to be seen backing the News Of The World either!
