On this day, England showed the French how to play six nations rugby.
I was expecting a tight game, eventually to be narrowly won by the (on paper, superior) French. That was right up until we scored in the first minute of play. Then again shortly after. Then again, and again and again until half time where we were 29-0 up. Not one point scored by the others.
The second half, many, myself included were awaiting the French comeback to make the photo finish we are all so used to. That lasted until the first minute of the second half when we scored again. A fifteen minute lapse got the French two tries, but they stupidly did not play a kicker, so only scored 10 points instead of 14.
Final score then, 34-10. Goodness knows how it happened – but it’s the best I’ve seen England play for a long time. Sadly it’s too late in the six nations to make a difference, but long live this current form!
