There’s a slight back story behind today’s picture. As I was standing in one of the corner lounges at 9am this morning in the languages place, waiting for my Spanish oral, thinking it through, making stuff up to say, a thought crosses my mind: How many times have I found myself here, waiting, quickly throwing together an opinion about something I don’t care about?
As it happens, quite a few times; three times a term, nine times a year. So I thought I’d take a picture of the view I get which never fails to inspire me every time I’m trying to think up an impromptu presentation on religion or the environment. It was depressing, I thought, and I was going to make sure it was. I quite like it when it’s bleak.
It was bleak, the sun had gone, early fog had buried us, just starting to lift – great I thought, just what I want to capture, something actually real. A snapshot into a mundane part of my life.
The oral came and went, as ever slightly quicker than you think, then I did a crash revision course for another exam this afternoon. That exam out of the way, I remembered it was my last one. I was quite happy really. When it came to doing this picture, I realise I didn’t really feel that bleak anymore – I didn’t really fancy a depressing picture.
It had been a busy evening and I hadn’t time to go out or anything – this picture was the only on my camera. So, I went batshit crazy with the photoshop. Not that crazy, the white was all there before, it was foggy, but the buildings aren’t purple. Brightens the place up no end though doesn’t it?
That feeling of joy, more relief actually, has quickly been wiped though. I have to be up in the morning for a two-day career course. Man I love courses.

Very colorful indeed. How many languages are you taking? Take care man and good luck tomorrow
Well, I was doing French, Spanish and Italian - but I've just finished with Italian now, so just the first two!
Nice picture Ben.
And congrats on the new website format. A vast improvement my friend (not that the former version was bad, of course).
Ciao!
